The first week of the season is upon us and it has been a busy week at Burnside Park with the grass practice nets open, AGM, and final preparations for the first day of the season.

- AGM – Election of Officers, Peter Burke Stepping down, Jerry Cross becomes a life member

AGM
The Annual General Meeting was held this week and following appointments of officers was confirmed:
- Chairman – David Robertson
- Secretary – Gareth Gibson
- Treasurer – Doug Allcock
- Jordan Buchanan joins the committee

Peter Burke stands down from the committee and was thanked for his enormous contribution to BWCUCC as well as Junior Cricket in Canterbury.
Peter joined the club in 1993/94, became a life in member of the club in 2012 and was recognised for his work by New Zealand cricket in 2016. You can read more about Peter’s contribution here Peter Burke
As announced at the Prizegiving, Jerry Cross was formally elected a life Member of the club. Jerry has be recovering from knee surgery and not able to attend the AGM, one of the few occasions in the 40 odd years of support, we look forward to seeing him around the club and which him a speedy recovery.
Premier Men’s

Carl Huyser has been appointed as the Captain of the Premier Men’s side, it was proud moment for Carl who has been involved in the club for 10 years.
Carl is a hard hitting opening batsman who often has his brother Tinus Huyser opening the batting at the top of the order.
The Premier Men’s are playing at Burnside Park this weekend in a 2 day match vs East Christchurch Shirley.
