Friday night junior cricket break-up

This Friday (23rd) is the last night of Friday night cricket for the summer. Thanks to all the players and coaches for another fun summer, and special thanks to Shane Young for all your hard work coordinating this year’s Junior Cricket programme. Make sure you come along to receive your certificate! In the event of rain, presentations will happen in the pavilion at 6pm. Keep an eye on Facebook for any changes to this plan.

Senior cricket prize-giving

Be like Bussy.

Senior players, partners, and supporters are warmly invited to the BWU Senior club prizegiving next Saturday (24th) at 7:00 p.m. at the Burnside Cricket Pavilion. All teams have the chance to acknowledge their seasons best, and the night is always the crowning moment of the summer. This year will be catered with a hot roll dinner, and MC’d by David Robertson and his beautiful assistant.

Al Brown MVP Leaderboard

Its going to come down to the final round in the Al Brown MVP competition, with only 15 points separating the top 2, and a number of late entrants expecting a late run thanks to a flurry of activity on CricHQ. Make sure you are at the pavilion on Saturday to see the presentation of the most coveted award in the trophy cabinet… Will it go to an afternoon or a morning grade player? Stay tuned…

1 Dilla Smith Cannons 16 43.58 86.91 9.92 140.41

Remember – MVP points in CricHQ determine the winner of the Al Brown trophy.  So get your scorecards in, make sure they are complete, and make sure all players details are captured. You get points for runs, wickets, maidens, catches, stumpings, run outs etc. The more detail you capture in your scorecards, the more points you stand to gain – especially remember to record your catches, and try to convince your opponents to fully utilize CricHQ too…

On this day (literally)

Lovely Trenty

Literally on this day (22nd March 2018),  New Zealand’s Trent Boult ripped through England’s top-order to dismiss the visitors for just 58 runs in 20.4 overs in the opening session of the day-night first Test at Eden Park. It was the tourists’ sixth-lowest Test innings total in history. How good is pink-ball? I’m done, and am now going to watch the last few balls of the final session.
