The club extends it congratulations to Scott Janett who this week made his first class debut against CD at Saxton Oval. ‘Scooter’ is at St. Andrews College old boy who is currently at UC and has gone through age group Canterbury cricket sides from U17’s, U19’s and Canterbury ‘A’.
Scott’s name will be familiar with anyone who has been following the club over the last few season’s as he has been a key part of the success of the Premier Team in their back to back two-day cricket success and adding the one day title last season.
It was the 8th of December 2018 when Scott first represented the club filling in during the school holidays, playing alongside his brother Matt in a Championship match at Riccarton Domain. Matt introduced Scott….
“You’ll like this guy Youngy, he loves cricket more than you, reads about it all night and follows everything, he can tell you scores and averages from across the world & loves the history of the game”
It was terrific news when Scooter decided to play for the BWCUCC after he completed school and during his first season – winning a one day title. He has continued to develop his cricket as well as being down to earth and happy to spend time having a chat about green top and blue top milk with Peter Isle at New World Ilam in the morning before a big game.
The 2023/24 Season saw Scott score 947 runs @ 55.7 with a high score of 124 and being awarded the DJ Hooper Runs trophy which was presented by Dave Hooper who made the trophy.
This is an even better average for Scott than in Year 8 when he was profiled in the StAC Regulus magazine in April 2016
Well done Scott – we are all really proud of your achievement and look forward to seeing your name on the honours board and sharing the mic at Karaoke night.

P.S. If you were thinking Matt Janett’s cricket like I was, he is plying his style of cricket the Dansk T20 leagues averaging 51.5 and wondering if that LBW was out. https://cricclubs.com/DanskCricketForbund/viewPlayer.do?playerId=3406493&clubId=21070#parentHorizontalTab1
