It was with sadness that club members heard on Friday that long-term club member and identity Eric White passed away peacefully at Christchurch Hospital.
Eric was a second grade and Presidents grade stalwart and took approximately 2000 wickets between the early 1970s and the mid-to-late 2000s with his left arm spin and command of line and length.
This Presidents photo was taken in 2007. Eric is in the blue tracksuit.
The club offers its sincerest condolences to Eric’s family.
Eric’s funeral service is to held on Tuesday at 11am at Academy Funeral Home on Main South Road.
On the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing, we remember those club members who fell defending our country in World War I:
- Rev. G.S. Bryan-Brown
- D Godfrey
- R.J.P. McConnell
- C Young
Read the research that club member Shane Young has done to uncover the stories of these fellow club members, and names of other club members who fought alongside them.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them
