Non-selection policy notice for un-financial members
If you have not yet paid your membership for this season, or made suitable arrangements with the club, you are now in breach of your membership. For those players in morning grades failure to pay your sub or make arrangements will now effect your eligibility for selection. For afternoon grade teams, failure to pay your team sub in full or to make other arrangements immediately could affect your team’s ongoing registration status until resolved, including de-registration of your team from the competition. If you have questions, talk to a member of the BWCUCC committee.
Avonhead Tavern Player of the Day Awards
Reminder – all teams that return to the pavilion (both Junior and Senior teams) are eligible to nominate a player of the day award.
Our club sponsors at One Good Horse Restaurant and The Avonhead Tavern have kindly provided the club with these Player of the Days awards. It is fantastic to have great supporters of club cricket and being local we hope you take up the opportunity to spend some time at the club house as well as making use of the prizes.

We are delighted to advise that official Burnside Merchandise is now available to purchase online direct from our sponsor Cricket Express. The team at Cricket Express have updated their website, and you can now order Burnside training gear and clothing online and just in time for Christmas! More items will be added after Christmas, but for now, check out the selection and show your club pride with some awesome BWCUCC kit!

Remember – MVP points in CricHQ determine the winner of the Al Brown trophy. So get your scorecards in, make sure they are complete, and make sure all players details are captured. You get points for runs, wickets, maidens, catches, stumpings, run outs etc. The more detail you capture in your scorecards, the more points you stand to gain – especially remember to record your catches, and try to convince your opponents to fully utilize CricHQ too…

Save the date: Senior Prize-giving Saturday 24th March
Mark your calendars – the senior club prize-giving will be held the evening of Saturday 24th of March. This is the last Saturday of senior cricket for the season, and the event is open to all senior club teams, their partners, and supporters. More details will follow soon.
On this day – 20th February 2016

Brendon McCullum said goodbye to international cricket by breaking the record for the fastest Test hundred by two balls – 54 to the 56 taken by the joint holders at the time, Viv Richards and Misbah-ul-Haq. The feat came in Christchurch against Australia, where, coming in to bat at 32 for 3 on a lively pitch, McCullum hit his second ball for four. Then with 15 minutes left for lunch, he took Mitchell Marsh for 21 runs in an over. He was caught off a no-ball on 39, and responded with a six and two fours from his next five balls. McCullum took New Zealand to 370, but centuries from Joe Burns and Usman Khawaja gave Australia a series-winning lead.
