Open Day and Pre – Season Quad Tournament at Burnside Park

Burnside Park will play host to a pre-season quad series on Saturday the 30th of September, welcoming Mid & South Canterbury’s rep sides. The day will consist of 2 x T20 matches at 11am & 2:30pm with lunch between the games.

BWCUCC will field two sides mixing the premier & championship sides together as players vie for spots for round 1 starting on the 7th of October. It will be the first chance to see new faces NZ U19 Captain Oscar Jackson & NZ over 40’s representative Steven Hobson in maroon as well as a range of university students who joined the club at the back end of last season who commencing their first season with the club. Please ensure you make them feel welcome.

South Canterbury are headlined by 2020 Al Brown winner Sam Carlaw who returns to Burnside Oval after a couple of years, having returned to club cricket in Timaru at the end of 2021. Sam took 133 wickets in his 3 seasons for the club with best figures of 5-0!

In addition to this there will be North West Women’s Pre-season fixtures and the club is waiting on confirmation on another fixture – it is a real credit to Dave Robertson, the council and of course the weather to even get these matches underway.

The clubrooms will be open day & the bar open from lunchtime. It is a great opportunity to come down and watch some quality cricket and get a gauge on how the premier & championship side will shape up for 2023/24.
