BWCUCC Scores Big with iPad Donation from Christchurch City Council

BWCUCC is celebrating a significant boost to its operations ahead of opening weekend, thanks to a generous donation of forty second-hand iPads from the Christchurch City Council through their Computers to the Community Scheme. This timely contribution means that all the club’s Saturday morning and afternoon grade teams have access to a device for live scoring their matches on PlayHQ, enhancing the game-day experience for players, coaches, and supporters as well as coaching support by video bowling and batting and allowing players to improve techniques.

Gareth Gibson, representing Burnside Cricket, expressed immense gratitude for the donation. “This is wonderful news,” said Gibson.

“We are very grateful to the council! The parents and scorers of the teams will be absolutely thrilled.”

The club had initially applied for the iPads last year but faced a delay due to insufficient devices. However, Natalie Dally, Community Development Advisor for the CCC, recently confirmed the availability of a batch of 40 devices, allowing the club’s request for 28 iPads for morning grade sides to be fulfilled to be extended to all morning and afternoon grades sides across Junior, Youth, Men’s and Women’s cricket at the club. This donation will streamline the scoring process, making it more efficient and accessible for all teams
