University

When Canterbury University Cricket Club merged with the West Christchurch Cricket Club in 1957, the combined organisation became the club of choice for University players wanting to further their cricket careers. Burnside Oval became the home of University cricketers when the West Christchurch University Club was part of another merger with the Burnside Cricket Club in 1972.

This 55 year tradition, with University students joining the club in numbers each year, and adding considerable benefit to the club both on and off the field, continues to this day. If you would like to play yourself, please email cricket@burnsidecricket.org.nz ,  or contact us via the Club’s Facebook page or speak to the club captain Brett Thomson on brett.thomson@iag.co.nz or 0211435185.
