We are very pleased to announce that Hannah Beatson has been appointed Premier Women’s coach for our inaugural season in Premier Women’s Cricket. Hannah, a former Northern Districts Spirit player, will be assisted by Nigel Marsh who has a coach development role at BWCUCC.
Hannah is passionate about physical activity and creating opportunities for others to flourish, building character and holistic development of people. She has worked in secondary schools as a Health and Physical Education teacher, Head of Department, sport coordinator and coach, and is currently working at Sport Canterbury in a role as healthy active learning facilitator.
Cricket coaching experience includes the Christchurch Girls’ High School First XI from 2015- 2020, who were finalists in the 2019 Gillette Venus secondary schools national tournament, assistant coach with the New Zealand Māori Secondary Schoolgirls team in 2020, Junior Magicians and Future Magicians winter training squad – coach 2019 and Canterbury U19 Girls Assistant Coach 2019.
We are really excited to have Hannah involved and feel particularly fortunate to also be able to tap into Nigel Marsh’s experience having him in an assistant coach and mentor for Hannah who wishes to further develop her coaching career and ongoing development.
Our very talented group of young women cricketers will benefit by having the access to both Hannah and Nigel who we think will make a terrific combination based on experience, philosophies, passions, communication and organisation skills
