Thomas Inder has spent the last two summers playing at BWCUCC. He started with the club in the Div II Lions with his older brother James (GI) when he moved to Christchurch with his mum, Raewyn, in 2022.

Coming from the Manawatu where Thomas has progressed through age group, Secondary, and club cricket, Thomas also represented the Manawatu through age group representitive grades too.

He was fortunate to also attend the North Island cricket camps, Riverbends, in the Hawkes Bay representing the Manawatu several times. Thomas was also a respected member in the Dannevirke Men’s P3’s team and later being called in to the Men’s P1 team.

Coming from a region where you could play secondary cricket in the morning and get to men’s cricket in the afternoon, it was a change of routine playing in Metro Cricket having to make a choice of either secondary or men’s cricket. With a lot of thought and discussion, Thomas decided to stick with playing men’s cricket where he continues to enjoy the comaraderie and he respects the knowledge shared from those players around him.

In Canterbury for the last two seasons Thomas has played the Year 11 and 12 cricket festivals, last year making the Canterbury U17’s wider Squad and this year being a reserve for the

Canterbury U17’s. Thomas has played Canterbury’s development program for cricket most recently the U18’s two day program.

Just before Christmas Thomas found out he has been successfully selected to play in India with the Kiwicaps youth team selected by Jacob Oram. The tour involves 8 games of cricket over 15 days. Playing both T20 and One Day formats, getting to play under lights and also experiencing a live IPL match. Two rest days sees some tourist visits including a trip to the Taj Mahal.

This year the Kiwicaps are taking a women’s team for the first time too.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for a young lad and Thomas is looking forward to all of the experiences he will have while playing in a nation that is extremely passionate about the game!

Through being a BWCUCC player, Robbies Riccarton have kindly offered to help Thomas raise some funds towards his trip to India by running a quizz night on Sunday 3rd March. Come along and register your team at 5pm with the quizz starting at 5:30pm.

Thomas is proud to be a BWCUCC player and aspires to continue his cricket development wearing the club colours with pride.
