On Saturday 17th February 2024 David Robertson brings up 200 games for Foxes Masters team and Gareth Gibson with the presentation.

“Some of you will know that David celebrated 30 years in the NZ Police Force this week, but we have another equally excitement milestone to celebrate. David’s 200th Presidents grade appearance. Crash made his debut for the Presidents Foxes as it was then known in 2009, a time when the team was struggling with what is commonly known as an aging workforce. His impact was immediate – both on and off the park – both in terms of his own individual performance and in the greater context of his influence on the team and indeed our club. In his first season, Crash scored 316 runs at 35.1, with a high score of 95, and he also bowled a bit, taking 10 wickets at 34.1 that summer. But ultimately it is David’s off-the-park involvement – that year, and every summer since that he can be most proud of. Crash assumed a leadership role within the side early on in his involvement with the Foxes. I hate to think how many hours he has spent since then talking players back into cricket, encouraging players (myself included) into retiring from morning grade to enjoy the greener wickets and of afternoon grades.
David assumed full management responsibility of the Foxes shortly after his debut, and has arranged 11 players to assemble at 12:45 PM every Saturday since then. In 15 seasons for the Foxes, David has scored over 3,415 runs at an average of 23, placing him third on the Burnside list of Presidents run scorers amongst in the modern era players. In total, he has taken 79 wickets in his presidents career at a very respectable average and strike rate 23.3, and strike 37 respectively. His best bowling in an innings was 5/15 and he will tell you all about that in his response to this speech. David is reliable and dependable club man in every respect. He will contribute 300 to 400 runs with the bat every summer He will catch every ball traveling to him at chest height in a 50 cm radius, if he is fielding at mid-off.
He served as a chairman of our club, a long standing committee member, and has taken the reigns on the grounds curator with the same level commitment that has given to every aspect of his involvement at the cricket club. In 15 seasons, he has become on of the most recognizable silhouettes at Burnside park – on the tractor, on the roller, or on the wicket. You will go a long way before finding a person as dedicated to the club and our team as Crash, I am grateful to consider him a friend and on behalf of all the Foxes, congratulations. We have a few tokens of appreciation and acknowledgement from the team and the club, for yourself and Nicole to enjoy. As you surpass 200 caps, you join an elite group of players and site 7th on the all time list of Foxes to do so:
Eric White – 391, Robbie Chisholm – 319, David Fox – 314, Bryce McKenzie – 265, Bobby Shorter – 256, John Gilson – 250
