Junior prizegiving was hosted at the clubrooms on Sunday the 30th of March for 8 junior teams who play in the Saturday morning CJCA competition. Shane Young, junior convenor, assisted by Will Kennedy welcomed the players and parents in the two sessions at the clubrooms.
Peter Hay as club chair addressed the crowded clubrooms and explained with pride how important junior cricket was to any club and that they could fell part of club which included international players Tom Latham, Will O’Rourke, Mitch Hay and Izzy Sharp as well as former members like Will Young, and that perhaps one day they might join the honours board as Oscar Jackson had only last night,
Each team’s parent coach / manager spoke about their teams season and the improvements which have been made. They were very complementary about the level of coaching received from Nick Gibb and Rory Blackaby.
The coaches / managers have the difficult task of selecting the team medal winners for MVP, Coaches Award and Player’s Player awards and everyone received a certificate – thanks to Paul Shackleton for assisting producing these. The list of medal recipients
At the conclusion the players has a packet of chips and a drink, followed up a parents vs kids match on #1.
The Junior Merit award was presented to Dwayne McCormick for his outstanding effort coaching and assistant coaching several sides as well as being a CJCA Grade Convenor.
