Congratulations to the Div 2 side lead by James Guild-Inder who have won the Div2 Red One Day Final – however not in the way they would have wanted.
Having won the semi-final the Lions held the hosting rights and on Sunday the 23rd of February they set to play Marist-Harewood on Burnside #1. The match was due to start at midday how with rain in the morning and this being an uncovered grade there was a delay to the start and a reduction of overs, play was to commence at 3pm and be 31 overs. James won the toss and the Lions were to bowl first. At drinks Marist-Harewood were 98/4 however two superb catches by Luke Pynenburg and sharp stumping by James slowed them up. Marist-Harewood ended up with 174 all out in the 30th over, with Eden Chapman-Peters 4.4 overs 4/10.



Into bat and Marist-Harewood took some early wickets with James, Eden and Fergus back in the pavilion at 41/3 there was plenty of work to be done, Tim Brigman set his work nicely and was able to build a partnership with Thomas Inder 22 and when Thomas and Cam were out things were looking interesting at 118/6. Tim was joined by Taj Chapman-Peters and they began to wrestle back the match which was going to down to the wire.
With the Lions at 152/6 Xavi Rajput who was fielding had suffered a serious injury and during the assessment an Ambulance was called and play halted and was not able to resumed. The club would like to acknowledge Jame’s leadership of side ensuring the full attention to the player.
