The Robbie’s Riccarton Masters side very hard fought win over the OBC Masters earned them the top spot on the ladder. The side faced OBC on Elmwood #1 with OBC invited to bat first and scoring 227/7 from their 40 overs with wickets shared around.

Robbie’s lost a couple of early wickets with Dean Harrison and Grant Summers both out bringing Adrian Mcfedries to the crease to join Craig Dyer 8 (27) whose task was to build a partnership and the feed the strike to Adrian. Dyers wicket brought about the cursed ‘Burnside shuffle’ taking the side to 54/4 and then 76/6. Surely OBC would have fancied their chances.

Marc van Tongeren 17 (29) however had other plans. Together with Adrian, who was well set, they put on 52 runs and when Tonks fell he was replaced by John Grant who determined innings scoring 5* (17) in a partnership of 91 would have frustrated the opposition.

Adrian’s innings of 135 off 103 balls included 15 fours and 6 sixes and was out caught with only 3 runs to get. A terrific match winning innings which deserved the Joes Garage Masters player of the round voucher. Robbie’s finished with a 2 wicket win with 2 overs to spare.
