Our very own Tim Seeto has made the trip to the Netherlands for a summer of cricket. The 58-game Premier player has been a standout performer in his Salland CC side playing in the Dutch Hoofdklasse League. The wicket-keeper batsman has already scored two centuries at an average of 45 in one day cricket. 

We caught up with Timmy to see how life in Holland is treating him. 

You’re a few months into your overseas season now. Where are you playing, what league are you in, and which club are you representing?

I am playing in the Dutch Hoofdklasse league and playing for Salland Cricket Club in Deventer. 

Now that you’ve settled in, what’s one thing you have learned about your adopted hometown or village?

People bike everywhere. Cyclists pretty much have the right of way over cars. 

What’s one fun or unique fact about your club so far that outsiders wouldn’t know?

We were the first club to have grass wickets in The Netherlands.

What’s the local pub you’ve ended up at most often, and what’s the usual order?

Anywhere on the Brink – IPA.

What’s the best pint you’ve discovered since arriving?

Can’t look past a Heineken here.

Who from BWCUCC do you think will have the best summer on the field, and why?

Callum Hill, UK Club Cricket is no comparison to Sydney Test Cricket. He will DOMINATE.

Two-week trip around Netherlands, Croatia, Greece and Germany.

What’s did you find was the biggest adjustment on and off the field since arriving?

Adjusting to the pitches here has been challenging. The biggest adjustment off the field would have to be biking everywhere. 

What’s been the biggest “this is proper Dutch club cricket” moment for you so far?

Has to be lunch at the innings break. Some clubs do better than others but it’s always something to look forward to.
