Working Bee 2026

The handover from Winter Summer presents a great opportunity to get people together as well as taking care of some chores around the clubrooms and grounds in preparation for the new season.

Thanks to the members of the Tunnel Wash Premier Men, Championship Men, Foxes masters sides, members of the BWCUCC and NWWC committee, and few others who were able to attend and get stuck in.

The tasks generally included cleaning out the pavilion and changing rooms and our Chair Peter Hay who just intended to paint the home changing rooms but has carried on to painted pretty much the entire downstairs!

All the gear, equipment and chairs were brought out cleaned and put in their correct place for the start of the summer. Thanks to Will Kennedy and Lachlan Bartlett for going through the junior gear room.

A big shout out to Curtis Millard from Rural Water Services who brought in the water blaster truck and cleaned to the front entrance wall to the park. This was looking unloved and it’s part of our park so its great to get it done – we are really grateful.

The artificial nets got some attention and once the movable nets were rolled out for the sumemr we gave them a clean and remarked the creases with some special paint. This will be bit of an ongoing task with the amount of use they get. We have some cord that we have that we can use for net repairs so we need to keep and eye on that.

Thanks to our Over 60s NZ representative and long term member Chris Kennedy who marshalled the troops for those projects. Alan Alty was present once again, and I can’t think of a working bee he has missed in my time at the club.

The covers were brought out and inspected for any holes and special tape was applied as needed. Signage was put up and overall the clubs looks great and ready for action.

Upstairs Waldo and Helen Hodder were at work and with Mateo (Year 7 junior), Chris Kennedy, Waldo and Alan Alty put the feet on the tables, tidy up the kitchen and sorted through some training balls.

There are still an number of jobs to get completed – and it is likely we will need to get some trades in to tackle these at some cost to the club.
