The 121st AGM of the club was opened by Peter Hay at 7.30pm on Tuesday the 22nd of September 2026. The pavilion was well attended by over twenty club members. Among them were life members and longer-standing members. There were also newer members of the club.

We recorded numerous apologies, confirmed last year’s minutes as correct, and Peter Hay addressed the room.
Peter Hay thanks Gareth Gibson as secretary for the production of another Annual Report covering all of the clubs involvement and the tremendous amount of work involved.
Highlighting a successful 2025-2026 season on the field that included securing seven trophies across Metro men’s and women’s competitions, such as the Tunnel Wash Premier Men’s one-day title and North West Women’s over-40 and T20 final titles. The club noted significant milestones and awards, including Scott Janett setting a metro one-day record of 197 runs against Sydenham, Alex Tait taking 59 wickets to top the grade and winning the Stephen Lester Memorial Trophy, Nick Gibb scoring 888 runs, and Matt Hay finishing as runner-up for Most Valuable. Furthermore, 31 players participated in representative cricket, with Tom, Will, Mitch, and Izzy centrally contracted and achieving test debuts, while North West Women completed five years under sole club governance and North West Youth provided continued playing opportunities. The club secured 7 trophies across metro competitions during the 2025-2026 season.
Peter discussed ongoing efforts to improve player retention from youth to adult grades following successful integration of women’s and youth programs, while noting financial pressures shared by sports clubs regarding balancing costs and revenue. Operating costs include approximately $60,000 annually, with balls accounting for $30,000 to $32,000 and the cricket blocks and grass training facility costing around $50,000, whereas subscriptions cover only about 19% of expenses.
To supplement finances, the club acknowledged supported business partners, outgoing commercial relationship lead Matt Everest, funding providers Mike Roan and Graeme Campbell, and Alex McDuff, who only last week organised a highly successful golf day that generated a profit of $6,000 to $7,000
Vanessa Robertson (Treasurer) was unable to attend as she was in South Africa managing an Indoor Cricket side at the Junior World Series. Scott Inglis provided the treasurers report.
Financial performance and subscriptions
- The club recorded an $11,000 deficit for the financial year ending in April.
- Total expenditure reached a record $290,000 due to pitch renovations and clothing purchases.
- Grant funding comprised 40% of total income for the financial year.
- Bar operations generated profits through dedicated volunteer labor.
- Subscriptions for the 2026-2027 season increased by a nominal 3%.
- We set senior team subscriptions at $3,780 for 40-over teams.
- The club set T20 team subscriptions at $2,200 for the season.
Elections of officers
Grant Dickson stepped down as patron after over 10 years of service in that role.
Grant is long standing member of the club, Grant was the captain of the Burnside High School 1st XI 1983/84 side that won the CCA 3rd Grade competition and after joining the club became a member of double crown winning premier side of 1990/1991 season and is a BWCUCC Premier Centurion have made 125 Premier appearances. Additionally, he remains active with over 3,000 runs as a top-order bat and off-spin bowler for the Foxes Masters.
Grant’s off-field governance roles strengthen the club, and people commonly seek his advice on matters. He also serves as Trustee for the George Howden Trust / Estate.
The club would like to thank Grant for his contributions to the club to date.
Hamish Kember was nominated and confirmed as the clubs Patron the succeed Grant Dickson.
He is a longstanding member of the club who represented Canterbury in first-class cricket from 1990 to 1995 and was a member of the 1988 New Zealand Youth World Cup squad.
Hamish has over 25 years experience in banking, wealth management and financial planning and is the director and shareholder of Optima Wealth.
Peter Hay (Chair), Vanessa Robertson (Treasurer), and Gareth Gibson (Secretary) all stood again and were re-elected unopposed.
Matthew Everest was to stepping down from the commericial role that he held but will to stay on the committee. Additionally, Theresa Buller was also confirmed on the committee that was elected. was also confirmed on the committee who were elected:
