North West Women’s Cricket 2019-20 Annual Report

We would like to thank everyone involved in the North West Women’s Cricket 2019 -20 season and now as we reflect on the season we can do so with the help of this annual report. Thanks to our Convenor Ross Hastings and all the contributors to the annual report which covers all aspects from our juniors and our U19 sides.

Chairman’s Welcome 2019/20 Season

Chairman’s Message

Welcome to all players to the new season. It’s great to see player numbers tracking well and strong sides named for the opening round of competition this coming weekend (5 October). Hopefully the weather plays its part…

Just a reminder around player & spectator behaviour – and specifically the Metro Cricket Code of conduct. The code is published in the Metro Handbook for the new season and these have been provided to all team captains.

Along with that I’ve spoken to each individual captain to ensure they understand the required behavioural standards – both of Metro Cricket &, just as importantly, of our Club & Committee.

BWC Boxing Day Test Tour

BWCUCC in association with Holland Clarke & Beatson will be taking a tour party to the 2019 Boxing Day test at the MCG.

The test between Australia and New Zealand will be the first time that the Black Caps have been invited to the MCG for the Boxing Day test in over 30 years.

The tour group will depart Christchurch on the afternoon of 25th December 2019, and includes 6 nights accommodation, flights, and tickets for the first four days of the test (entry on the 5th day is by gold coin donation).

Chairman David Robertson’s interview on Newstalk ZB

After last week’s announcement that Burnside West Christchurch University Cricket had been named NZ Cricket’s 2017/18 Club of the Year, our Chairman David Robertson was interviewed on Newstalk ZB’s All Sport Breakfast show.

Listen to the recording of the interview (listen-time: 4 mins) below.

The Chairman’s Welcome

The 2018-19 season is underway with all senior teams having played a couple of rounds , and Juniors also well underway.

It is great to see the thriving mass of Junior, Youth & Senior sides out across the park at training when the weather has allowed it, and there can be considerable excitement about the season ahead.

I would like to extend my thanks to our hard working committee members for their efforts to get us up and running this summer. In particular, Shane Young who is filling the (not inconsiderable) shoes of Peter Burke as Junior Convenor has been working tirelessly to coordinate that area of our organisation.
