Peter Smith, coach of BWU4 who played top of the table OBC writes –

“BWU  year 6 Team 4 played the unbeaten top of the table OBC team 14. BWU4 held a slight run advantage after each teams first 15 overs,  Burnside being 67/4 versus OBC at 60/2.  OBC batted very well in their second inning to score 107/2 leaving Burnside needing 101 runs to win from  15 overs against the divisions leading bowling attack.  Burnside made steady progress from its first 10 over scoring 53 runs for the loss of 3 wickets with solid contributions from Aakrista Dahal 38 & Nick Smith 28. Needing 47 from the last 5 overs Josh Kenny the star of Burnsides batting effort stepped up scoring 33 off from his final 12 balls to take his total score to 60 and see Burnside home with an over and 2 wickets to spare.”

I would like to congratulate the following girls from our BWU9 team who made the South Island Primary schools tournament. This is the first year together and is also first girls team BWCUCC have had for sometime – plus they are all in Year 7 – it’s a great achievement – Well done to Coaches Angus McIntosh and Mike Dunlop who will also be taking these teams.

If you didn’t hear about the Premiers win against Marist Harewood in the 50 over one dayer –  you would have missed out on Sam Noster’s 169, Matt Farrants 71 and Blake Coburn’s 6/18 as they scored 309/4 before cleaning up Marist Harewood for  78. A bit of payback for an earlier loss in the season.

Arun Kumar is our senior scorer who is using live scoring of premier matches on CricHQ which you get to off a link from our website, here is Sam Noster’s wagon wheel of the inning’s. (Thanks for the great work Arun)

Honour’s Board and Al Brown MVP

Honour’s Board has been updated, please if you know of a great performance please send in an email and an accompanying picture would be great! There has been a bit of work done on the 2a recent result to make sure that Al Brown MVP are allocated correctly – only MVP points are accrued if your named in a fullscorecard that is accepted as the official result. If you not sure what this mean’s ask your skipper, if you are the skipper and your not clear on this send me a note.

Coming into the last two weeks before Xmas Breakup Blake Coburn holds a 3.77 MVP point lead over David O’Brien as they have been trading the top spot week on week, Sam Noster breaks into #5 –  but you can find out the leaderboard by following the links on our website by clicking http://burnsidecricket.org.nz/al-brown/

Spotlight on Sponsor’s

20151204_174245

This week the club was very fortunate to be able to collect about 9 x 45kg bags of fertiliser as a donation from Ravensdown. With 4 blocks plus grass practise wickets our costs of operating at the quality we set are understandably high and it’s with great appreciation from companies like Ravensdown and their staff that we receive their support.
